The Barton College golf team returns eight players from a 2008-09 team that finished ranked 17th in Nike/Golf World Coaches' Poll and 20th in the Golfstat poll.

The Bulldogs enjoyed an outstanding season that included four Golfstat victories. Barton won the Hampton Inn-Barton Intercollegiate and the Conference Carolinas Championship. The Bulldogs also tied for first at the Gardner's BBQ Dogfight and the Carolina Sands Intercollegiate, losing in playoffs in both events.

The Bulldogs must replace senior all-region/all-conference performer Jonathan Burke, who finished 29th at the National Championships. Anchoring this year's lineup will be senior Tom Muto Jr. (Wolcott, NY) and junior Daniel Castleberry (Clayton, NC). Muto was a D-III All-American at St. John Fisher College (NY) his first two collegiate seasons and an all-conference choice as a junior. Castleberry claimed the NCAA Atlantic Region title as a freshman to earn Honorable Mention All-America honors.

Stephen Harrison, the 2007 Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference Freshman of the Year, is now a senior, as is Taylor Hernandez. They both saw plenty of time in a balanced Barton lineup last season, as did sophomores David Boyce and Dalton Rich. Harrison won the Wake County Amateur this past summer at 66-70 and played in the 2009 United States Amateur in Tulsa, OK.

Junior Willl Vinson and sophomore Darren Smith will round out the lineup alongside freshman Daniel Claytor (Nashville, NC), an all-state performer from nearby Northern Nash High School who is expected to be an impact player.

Barton, which has played in 10 straight NCAA Regionals and three of the last seven NCAA finals, will once again have it sights set high, hoping to defend its Conference Carolinas championship and earn berths in both the NCAA Regionals and Nationals.
