Barton inks two additional athletes for volleyball team

May 29, 2007

Junior transfer student Jill McAndrew and incoming freshman Chasity Hilliard have signed to play volleyball for Barton College in 2007.

newvolleyball.jpgMcAndrew comes south to play for the Lady Bulldogs from Genessee Community College, located in Genessee, NY. She was a major contributor for a Genessee team that played for a National Championship in each of the past two seasons.

"Jill has winning experience at the college level, having been a part of a team which won a lot of matches on the way to playing for a National Title." Barton head coach Patrick Morgan stated of McAndrew. "That experience will help her infuse a young team with a great winning attitude! Jill will provide outside hitter depth and court leadership."

Chasity Hilliard was a go-to player during her time at Louisburg HS in North Carolina. She was a star outside hitter for a competitive high school program that played against future teammates Cassie Blackmon and Meagan Parrott at local rival schools Northern Vance and state runner-up J.F. Webb, respectively.

Lady Bulldog volleyball anounces four signees

May 16, 2007

Head women's volleyball coach Patrick Morgan is thrilled with his first recruiting class at Barton College –along with the great strides his returning players have made in the offseason.

The volleyball team could bring in as many as nine players, including four National Letter of Intent signees to the 2007 - 2008 recruiting class: defensive specialist Cassie Blackmon, middle blocker Brittany Hunsucker and outside hitters Meagan Parrott and Melissa Ritter have all made commitments.

"I am extremely proud of all eight returning players," Morgan said. "They understand that we have a great void to fill with the graduation of three starters. Each of the players coming back has put in a great deal of time in the gym as well as working on their individual skills on the court…especially on the defensive side of the ball. I can't wait to see the fruits of their hard work."

Morgan reports of the offseason work put in by the returning members of the team. "I am looking forward to working with the returning players and the newcomers together this August!"
