Wingate , N.C. — Wingate University senior defender Kerrin Sheldon ( Moatsville , W.Va. ) tallied the match's only goal as the host Bulldogs blanked visiting Barton College 1-0 in NCAA Division II men's soccer action Tuesday night at the WU Soccer Complex.
With the victory, Wingate improves to 2-0 overall on the young season. Barton (0-1 overall) drops its season opener. Wingate hosts Appalachian Region foe West Virginia Wesleyan College Friday night at 8 p.m. Barton travels to F redericksburg, Va. Saturday to face Marymount (Va.) University at 1 p.m. 
A 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® second team member, Sheldon scored his first goal of the season at the 36:48 mark. He was assisted by sophomore forward Junior Nyemb ( Douala , Cameroon ) and senior defender Chris Bohach ( Charleston , W.Va. ).
Wingate has three goals this season; All-SAC performer Nyemb has three assists. On the match winner, Bohach served the ball to Nyemb on the end line. Nyemb found All-SAC mate Sheldon for the score. Read more…

WILSON, NC — Senior Lindsey Stansbury recorded 20 kills, five aces and three blocks Tuesday night as visiting St. Andrews Presbyterian College opened Conference Carolinas volleyball play with a 28-30, 30-16, 30-28, 30-25 victory over Barton.
The Knights improved to 2-3 overall while Barton was opening its season. St. Andrews entertains Queens University of Charlotte at 6:30 Wednesday night while Barton is home with Elizabeth City State at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Senior outside hitter Tara Lemieux added 10 kills and three aces for the victors. Kelly Williams contributed four aces and Galina Podolsky had three. Sophomore setter Jaime Hayes had 41 assists and senior libero Erin Haugen registered 11 digs.
For the Lady Bulldogs, freshman outside hitter Melissa Ritter recorded 20 kills and senior outside hitter Michelle Walker added 13. Walker added five blocks and four aces while Ritter recorded 12 digs and three blocks. Freshman libero Kristen Peschock added nine digs.

WILSON , NC – Stacey Radford Tant was a part of the greatest two seasons in Barton College women's soccer history, leading the Lady Bulldogs to a 16-2-1 record as a senior sweeper in 2001 and coaching Barton to a 14-5 mark in 2005.
However, the former All-American has resigned after four years at the helm of her alma mater's program, foregoing any chance to make more history for the Lady Bulldogs.
Tant, who recently earned her master's degree in sports administration from East Carolina University , informed Barton Director of Athletics Gary Hall that she has elected to pursue a teaching/coaching career in the public schools. Tant and her husband, Todd, welcomed their first child, Thomas, into the world in April.

AC (Barton) grad Mitch Adams places third in weekend Champions Tour event.
Mitch Adams, a 1979 Atlantic Christian (now Barton) College graduate, earned the biggest paycheck of any former Bulldog golfer this weekend when he finished third in the Champions Tour's 3M Championship in Minneapolis.
Adams, who lives in Cary, N.C., with his wife, Gail, turned pro two years ago and just became eligible for the Champions Tour when he turned 50 this year. Read more…
